August is looking like another busy month for the Seven² team. We’ve got plenty happening across the yard and out on site, and we’re also getting ready to head along to the Southland Home Show.
It’s always good to get out from behind the builds and have a proper chat with people about what they’re planning, so we’re looking forward to being there.
We’re off to the Southland Home Show
If you’re heading along to the Southland Home Show this month, make sure you come and say hello.
We’ll have some of the Seven² team there across the weekend, so if you’ve been thinking about building, have a section you’re not quite sure what to do with, or you’re curious about how the whole transportable home process works, it’s a good opportunity to come and have a yarn.
You don’t need to turn up with plans, measurements and everything figured out either. A lot of our projects start with a pretty simple conversation about what someone needs, where they want to build and what they have in mind.
We can talk you through the process, answer your questions and give you a better idea of what might work for you.
We thought we’d add a little competition to our stand this year too.
We’ll have a jar full of screws and we want you to tell us how many you reckon are in there. Get it right – or get closest – and there’s a hamper up for grabs.
We’ve already given everyone a little teaser of the competition on our socials, but don’t spend too long studying that jar.
It’s not the real one.
You’ll have to come down to the Home Show, take a look at the actual jar and make your guess in person. We have a feeling there might be some fairly serious estimating going on.
Meanwhile, the building carries on
Back at Seven², things aren’t slowing down just because it’s winter.
Southland weather can make building interesting at this time of year. Cold mornings, rain, mud and the occasional decent day thrown in to keep everyone guessing – we’re pretty used to it by now.
It’s also where building off-site has some real advantages.
With our transportable homes, much of the work can continue in a controlled environment rather than having the entire build sitting outside waiting for the weather to play ball. There’s still work that needs to happen on site, of course, but being able to keep the home itself progressing can make a big difference through the winter months.
It’s one of those things that sounds simple, but when you’ve spent a Southland winter watching the forecast, it makes a lot of sense.
We’ve also been having plenty of conversations lately about what a transportable home can actually look like.
There’s sometimes still an idea that choosing transportable means choosing something basic or having to settle for a set design. That doesn’t have to be the case.
We can work with different layouts, finishes and ideas to create a home that suits the people who are actually going to live in it. That might mean keeping things compact and practical, creating something completely custom, or starting with an existing idea and making it your own.
At the end of the day, we’re building homes. They still need to feel good to walk into, work for everyday life and be somewhere you’re happy to come home to.
